Easy Homemade Cornbread

This easy homemade cornbread is perfect to pair with your favorite winter soup, a big pot of beans or a skillet full of pork chops. It stirs together in minutes and can be out of the oven by the time the food gets to the table.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons aluminum free baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • Oil to grease skillet or pan

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Optional - preheat skillet or pan for a crispy crust.
  • Combine all dry ingredients ensuring no lumps of baking powder remain.
  • Add all other ingredients and stir. It's not important to stir out every single lump.
  • Pour into preheated pan or skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
